What to expect
This route feels more varied and a bit more adventurous, with a steady climb up onto Loughrigg and more undulating terrain throughout the day. Expect a mix of paths, from fell trails to lakeside tracks, with plenty of points of interest along the way including Rydal Cave, the grot and the run into Grasmere.
There is a bit more going on in terms of terrain and navigation, but nothing too technical, and the variety keeps it interesting from start to finish.
