How about a fun adventurous weekend in the mighty Lake District?
A laid back weekend of proper Lake District hiking, good food, and great company. We'll be based at Wasdale Hall YHA with shared rooms, meals sorted, and two guided walks over the Western Fells. We will be ticking off some beautiful Wainwrights.
YHA Wasdale is set on the shores of Wastwater which means you can have a swim in the Lake on a morning or evening.

Important points:
- A non refundable deposit of £140pp is required upon booking to secure your spot
- Breakfast, packed lunch & evening meal provided
- A guided hike will be provided on Saturday & Sunday
- Mixture of dormitory-style rooms of varying sizes
- The group sleeping arrangements will be split by gender
- The remaining total of balance (£150) is to be paid in full by the 7th April 2027.
- Breakfast is served from 7:30am
- Evening meal latest time is 8:30pm
- Access to a WhatsApp group chat
- There is a minimum of 8 persons needed to make the event go ahead
- Private room supplement is available (this is subject to availability)
- Should you need to cancel the event, a the non refundable deposit may be refunded if your spot is filled
WHAT TO EXPECT - DETAILED ITINERY:
FRIDAY 4TH JUNE - ARRIVAL & WELCOME
From 3:00pm - Arrive at Wasdale YHA, check in to your shared dorm room, and take some time to settle in.
The hostel sits right on the shore of Wasdale with amazing views - perfect for a quiet moment, pre-dinner wander down by the water or even a dip in Wastwater. Our Mountain Leaders will be around from 5pm - 6pm for a pint and to brief everyone on the upcoming weekend. The last time for evening meal is 8:30pm.
SATURDAY 5TH JUNE - THE HAYCOCK ROUND
7:30-8:30am - Breakfast served. You'll also make up your packed lunch for the day from the hostel's lunch station (bread, snacks, fruit, etc).
9am - The Haycock Round heads into the quieter Western Fells, linking Buckbarrow, Seatallan, Haycock and Middle Fell in one proper day out. It's a rugged, less-trodden route with 4 Wainwrights to tick off - ideal if you're after something a bit wilder and off the usual paths. 10 miles & 3,700ft of ascent.
Approx. 3:30 - 4pm - Return to the hostel for a drink, shower, and a well-earned rest. The evening is your own - the last time for evening meal is 8:30pm.
SUNDAY 6TH JUNE - WHINRIGG, ILLGILL HEAD & FAREWELLS
7:30-8:30am - Breakfast & pack up your things (we'll have access to a luggage room for anything you don't want to carry on the walk)
9am - Head out on our second walk: Whinrigg, Illgillhead - 7 miles - 2,000ft of ascent. This one heads up Whin Rigg and Illgill Head for a shorter but still solid day out in the Western Fells. It's a quieter route with 2 Wainwrights to tick off - perfect if you want something straightforward that still feels a bit off the beaten track.
2:30 - Return to the hostel. We'll say our goodbyes and head off home with tired legs and hopefully a recharged mind!

Absolutely! 90% of our participants are solo hikers and adventurers. We pride ourselves on getting together like minded folk to create laughs, memories, and friendships! So there's no need to feel worried about your first experience, or indeed trying a new type of outdoor activity, with us.
For each hike we calculate a suitable time based on the distance and terrain. We do our very best to accommodate the speed of the group we are leading, whilst providing the encouragement needed to complete the challenge.
