THE BIG ONE

Get ready for an adventure that will take you to new heights, both physically and emotionally, as you conquer this next level route in the heart of the magnificent Lake District.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: We will be hiking from Rydal to Keswick via the Eastern Fells. The plan of the day will be to leave our vehicles at a car park in Rydal (meeting details below), complete the challenge and then get the 555 bus back from Keswick. The bus journey is around 30 minutes and costs £2.

PLEASE NOTE: This is an extreme challenge that should only be booked if you have a very good fitness level and are an experienced hiker. This group will have a maximum of 6 participants and will involve roughly 11-12 hours of continuous hiking with limited breaks (due to time constraints with the bus times).

STATS: 18 peaks - 7,000ft of ascent - 22 miles

Peaks Included: Nab Scar, Heron Pike, Rydal Fell, Great Rigg, Fairfield, Seat Sandal, Dollywaggon Pike, High Crag, Nethermost Pike, Helvellyn, Lower Man, Whiteside, Raise, Stybarrow Dodd, Watsons Dodd, Great Dodd, Calfhow Pike, Clough Head.

MEETING INFORMATION: The meeting point is at the Pelter bridge car park which is situated across a small bridge close to the bus stop in Rydal (full address below). The meeting time is 6am with hope to set off ASAP. If you are running late, please contact me, as due to time restraints we will have to set off by 6:30am. Once arrived, you will need to read and sign a waiver. Please bring some change for the parking machine.

BAD WEATHER?

In nearly all instances of bad weather, we will still continue the hike if there is poor visibility, rain and wind. In cases where we have severe winds or thunderstorms forecasted, then I will either cancel the route (arrange for an alternative date) or offer an alternative route at a lower level. Safety is my main priority when hiking in the mountains and with the alternative route, we can still have a fantastic day!

WHAT TO EXPECT
This challenge is extreme and is only for participants with a very good level of fitness and is used to hiking 16+ miles regularly on mountainous terrain. This will be a big challenge not just physically, but also mentally.

WHAT TO BRING

• Backpack - At least 30 litres
• Lunch
• Hot drink

• Water - at least 3L

• Lunch

• Plenty of snacks to keep you going (salty snacks help reduce cramps, electrolyte tablets/gels, trail mix, healthy fats etc)
