Striding edge at Night

There are many fine ways to climb Helvellyn, but an ascent via Striding Edge AT NIGHT has to be considered the most spectacular of all. This is a classic grade 1 scramble which will require four points of contact on parts of the ridge. We will also be descending via Swirral edge, which is another grade 1 scramble. It should take us approximately 5-6 hours to complete, depending on the groups pace. The total distance is approximately 8 miles with close to 3,000ft of ascent. The ascent along Striding Edge is thrilling, with exhilarating sections that will get your heart racing. But don't worry; our guides are there to support you through the more challenging parts, making it a manageable adventure for hikers of varying experience levels.

BAD WEATHER?

In nearly all instances of bad weather, we will still continue the hike if there is poor visibility, light rain and light wind. In cases where we have wind above 35mph or thunderstorms forecasted, then I will postpone the route (arrange for an alternative date). Safety is my main priority when hiking in the mountains, they will always be there! If booking accommodation, I recommend booking somewhere with free cancellation.

WHAT TO EXPECT
This is an epic route at night that will test you mentally and physically. Helvellyn via Striding edge is a mountain route with a mix of rocky terrain, grassy paths and steep ascents/descents - There are also two grade 1 ridges to scramble which do require a head for heights. The requirement for this event is to have already completed striding edge in the day or other grade 1 scrambles such as: Sharp edge, Crib Goch, CMD arete, Tryfan etc. You will not be allowed onto this event without previous experience of a grade 1 scramble, and most importantly a headtorch with spare batteries.

If you have any medical conditions, please let me know beforehand.
