What to expect:

Blencathra, also known as Saddleback, is a thrilling mountain adventure that can be conquered via two exciting routes: Sharp Edge and Halls Fell. Sharp Edge is a challenging and exhilarating ridge ascent, attracting experienced climbers with its exposed scrambling sections and breathtaking vistas.

On the other hand, Halls Fell offers a slightly less demanding yet still rewarding route to the summit, providing hikers with captivating panoramas of the Central & Eastern fells of the Lake District. Blencathra promises an unforgettable experience, combining adventure, stunning scenery, and a sense of accomplishment atop one of the region's most iconic peaks.

Blencathra via Sharp edge & Halls fell ridge have quite a fearsome reputation, and require some serious attention when traversing them. They are both grade 1 scrambles and do require a strong head for heights. This is a mountain route with a mix of rocky terrain, grassy paths, steep ascents/descents and hands on scrambling.
