Conquering Helvellyn: Corporate Hiking Adventure with London Business School

On the 17th of May, a team of 40 from London Business School set out on a memorable Lake District adventure, tackling one of its most iconic peaks: Helvellyn. The group travelled by bus from Keswick and met at Swirls Car Park, where we began the day with a thorough safety briefing to ensure everyone was prepared for the challenges ahead.

From Swirls, the team walked through the lush woods towards Wythburn. The forested paths were shaded and pleasant, providing the perfect warm-up before the climb. Spirits were high as everyone navigated the gentle woodland trails together, chatting and enjoying the fresh spring air.

The ascent via Helvellyn Gill was a highlight of the day. The climb was challenging but manageable for the group, offering an authentic fell-walking experience without being overwhelming. Hot temperatures and clear, sunny skies made the walk especially enjoyable, though the wind near the summit added an extra element of adventure.

Reaching the top of Helvellyn was a moment of triumph for everyone. From the summit, the team enjoyed beautiful views of the surrounding fells and lakes. We took photos to capture the achievement and to remember the teamwork and determination that got everyone there.

The descent back towards Swirls Car Park was a chance to relax, reflect on the day, and enjoy the quieter side of the mountain trails. The mix of woodland paths and open fell made for a pleasant walk down, allowing the team to unwind while still taking in the beauty of the Lake District.

This corporate hiking adventure perfectly combined physical challenge, stunning scenery, and team building. Walking together up Helvellyn, supporting each other through the climb, and sharing the triumph at the summit showed exactly why mountain experiences are such a great way to foster collaboration and camaraderie. It was a day the London Business School team will remember for both the achievement and the shared experience.
